We educate and empower women of African descent affected by diseases of the reproductive system.

RSP's Mission Statement

The Resilient Sisterhood Project (RSP) educates and empowers women of African descent about common, yet rarely discussed, diseases of the reproductive system that disproportionately affect them. RSP approaches these diseases and related issues through a cultural and social justice lens, recognizing the links among reproductive health knowledge, health disparities, racial inequities, and socioeconomic conditions.

Our 2025 Impact

Last year, RSP reached over 8,000 people through our organized events and collaborations with community partners. Our P.O.W.E.R. research partnership with Silent Spring Institute, focused on environmental and beauty justice, reached over 50,000 social media accounts with hired and trained influencers expanding our reach. In addition, we hosted interns, volunteers, as well as capstone and practicum students. In 2025, we also received over 100 requests for internships, volunteer interest, speaking engagements, media, and collaborations and queries from community organizations, academic and health institutions, and more.

While RSP often focuses on the word "women" in much of what we do, we know that other people besides cisgender women are in need of the information we provide. We want to address reproductive issues that don't just affect cisgender women as our research can apply to anyone who was born with a female reproductive system, including transgender, genderqueer, and gender non-conforming people.
